The pork chop wars

As you see, we are all about the hygiene here. Whew, after that little scuffle we are all tired...why does my pillow feel so lumpy...aaaaaaagggh!

My old friend

I figure that this is a good way to keep everyone abreast of each mundane detail that I find so exciting, because everyone knows, it's all about Serena.

That being agreed, I must admit to missing my old friend Pepper very much. Maybe it's really all about Pepper (despite what Clovis says). Maybe I am just a planet circling his star of consciousness. Maybe, his holy spirit is shaking his head at me right now...

Mica watercolours

Here I am playing about making my own stationary designs with my new mica watercolours...

Guess the pups find this pretty boring - at least there's a nice place for them to lounge while I doodle away...

Eats

We ate well on our week away (vacations are not for dieting!). There were great markets right up 176 in Hendersonville. Also, we found lots of neat little restaurants.
My favourite was the Green River Barbeque joint. Look, here are our leftovers. My St.Louis style ribs are hiding something...

Curt's brisket. A whole meal left after stuffing ourselves. I particularly liked the black eyed pea salad - yuuummmmmmm!

We stopped into a place called The Purple Onion for some lemonade (me), iced coffee (yuck, not me) and a hummus plate. Really good - fresh food and a neat atmosphere. Guess that they have music a couple of nights a week. If we go back, it'll have to be investigated further.

*This is a later side note:
Last night we watched 'Bukowski: Born into This' and one of the bearded women said that Hank/Charles/whatever referred to, his, um, thang as 'The Purple Onion.' I don't think that's what these restaurateurs had in mind somehow.

Pearson's Falls

There are some great trails and pretty waterfalls around where we were staying. A lot of huge-mong-ous rhodies too - bet it is amazing when they are all in bloom (we saw the postcards at the local tourist shops).

Really pretty regardless & warm enough to tromp about in the water. At Pearson's Falls, I guess they've had enough unfortunate incidents that it's all roped off. Still, very cool...

Bradley Falls

At Bradley Falls, it's all a bit more relaxed and the trail seems more impressive (although, more broken glass and evidence of hobo fires and such)...

Salud...a

So we've just returned from a week at a lovely cabin in Saluda.

What you don't see in the photo is the hot tub where we thoroughly pruned our fingers and toes for hours every day. Curt didn't even get that many bug bites. Yay! I am sooooo decompressed and haven't even had a beer in a week.
